Where to Place Your Dash Cam? A Simple Guide

As a leading dash cam factory, we often get asked: "Where is the best place to install my dash cam?" It’s a great question. The right placement can make a big difference in how well your camera works. Here is a simple guide to help you get the best view of the road.

1. Behind the Rearview Mirror
The most popular and recommended spot is behind the rearview mirror, on the passenger side. This keeps the camera out of your direct line of sight while driving. It also gives a clear, wide view of the road ahead. Since it’s hidden behind the mirror, it’s less noticeable to thieves.

2. Center of the Windshield
Placing the camera in the very center of the windshield is also a good choice. It provides a balanced view and captures both the left and right sides of the road equally. Just make sure it does not block your view of the traffic.

3. Near the Top
Always try to mount the camera high up, near the top of the windshield. This helps the camera see over the hood of your car and capture a larger area. It also reduces glare from your dashboard.

4. For Rear-View Cameras
If you have a rear dash cam, stick it on the rear windshield, again at the top. Make sure the camera's view is not blocked by rear headrests or anything else in the car.

A Few Important Tips:

1.Clean the area before sticking the mount. Dirt and dust can make the adhesive weak.

2.Check local laws. In some places, there are rules about where you can attach things to your windshield. Make sure you are following the rules in your area.

3.Hide the cable. Run the power cable along the edge of the windshield and down to your car’s power outlet. This keeps your car tidy and safe.

At our factory, we design our dash cams to be easy to install and simple to use. If you have any questions about placement or our products, feel free to contact us. Safe driving!
