As a factory that makes drive recorders, we hear this question often. The simple answer is: yes, it can. But it depends on the model and how you set it up.
Most of our newer recorders have a parking mode. This means they can keep watching your car even after you turn off the engine.
How does it work? The recorder does not run all the time. That would use too much power. Instead, it goes into a sleep state. It wakes up and starts recording when it senses something.
There are two common ways
Time-Lapse Mode: The recorder takes short videos again and again, like one picture every second. This saves power and memory.

Event Detection Mode: The recorder only turns on fully if it senses a shock or motion near the car. A small bump or someone walking by can trigger it.

Important: For parking mode to work, the recorder must get power when the car is off. You can do this in two ways:
Hardwiring: A professional can connect the recorder to your car's fuse box. This uses the car's main battery.

External Battery: You can buy a separate small battery pack just for the recorder. This does not use your car's battery.

A Word of Caution: If you use the car's main battery, please be careful. Using it for a very long time (like days) can drain the battery. Your car might not start. We suggest using this mode for shorter periods, like when you park at a store or for one night.
What Does This Mean For You?
It means extra safety. Parking mode can help you see what happened if someone hits your parked car or tries to break in. You will have a video record.

Not all our recorders have this feature. Please check the box or product description. If you are not sure, ask your seller or contact us directly.
